Under the patronage of Assistant Professor Dr. Naseer Kazem Al-Maliki, Dean of the College of Medicine at Wasit University, the college organized a scientific training course entitled “Risks of Helical CT Scan and Its Comparison with Dental Cone Beam CT (CBCT), and the Importance of Nanotechnology in Medical Imaging.” The course witnessed the participation of several faculty members and specialists in the fields of radiology and medical imaging.

The workshop, presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Amal Dushar Hussein, and lecturers Ms. Huda Ashour Shati and Ms. Zainab Abdul-Hassan Hussein, provided a comprehensive explanation of the operating mechanisms of the Computed Tomography (CT) scanner, highlighting the potential risks associated with radiation exposure. It also included a comparison with the Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) device used in dental imaging. Furthermore, the speakers discussed the significance of employing nanotechnology in advancing modern imaging techniques, given its role in enhancing accuracy and minimizing side effects.

At the conclusion of the workshop, participants emphasized the importance of raising public awareness regarding the risks associated with radiological imaging and the necessity of ensuring that such procedures are performed under direct medical supervision to reduce unnecessary radiation exposure and to safeguard the health of both patients and professionals in the field.
