As part of its efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals—particularly Goal 17, which focuses on partnerships to achieve the goals—the College of Computer Science and Information Technology at Wasit University held a virtual meeting via Google Meet on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, with a delegation from Al-Khwarizmi University in the Islamic Republic of Iran to explore avenues for academic and scientific collaboration between the two institutions.

The meeting was chaired by the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Saif Ali Al-Saeedi, and attended by vice deans and heads of academic departments. Discussions covered several key strategic areas, including joint supervision of postgraduate students, exchange of scientific visits and visiting professors, as well as the organization of joint training courses and workshops in the fields of computer science and technology. The two sides also discussed launching student exchange programs in both academic and training tracks.

Further topics included the formation of joint research teams, collaboration on advanced scientific projects, hosting international scientific competitions and conferences, and exchanging academic expertise to modernize curricula in alignment with the latest global developments in the field.

In his remarks during the meeting, Dr. Saif Ali Al-Saeedi stated: “This meeting marks an important step toward building long-term strategic partnerships that align with the university’s vision of global academic openness—benefiting both our students and researchers.”

The head of the Al-Khwarizmi University delegation also expressed appreciation for the cooperation, noting: “We believe that sharing knowledge and expertise between our universities will enhance education and scientific research, and generate mutual benefits that elevate our academic standing regionally and internationally.”

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties agreed on the importance of implementing the proposed cooperation initiatives within a joint timeline and transforming these ideas into tangible, executable programs that contribute to raising the global ranking of both universities and advancing scientific and research progress within a broader framework of sustainable development
