As part of its commitment to promoting social and public health awareness, the College of Medicine at Wasit University organized a voluntary awareness campaign titled \u201cDrugs: An Endless Hell.\u201d The campaign aimed to shed light on the severe social and health consequences of drug abuse and to reinforce the role of academic institutions in addressing this pressing societal issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The initiative was led by Dr. Fatima Abdul Sharqi, Head of the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, alongside unit members Dr. Taif Kareem Khalaf, Asst. Lecturer Jasim Jabbarah Jasim, Asst. Lecturer Bassam Mahmoud Tuffah, and Doaa Mohammed Rashad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Raising Awareness of the Social and Health Risks of Drug Abuse<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The campaign featured educational lectures and the distribution of informative materials highlighting the physical and psychological dangers of drug use, as well as its impact on individual behavior and society. Discussion sessions also addressed the broader social consequences, including family breakdown, rising crime rates, and declining productivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sustainable Development and Combating Social Issues<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This initiative aligns with Wasit University\u2019s efforts to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)\u2014specifically Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being and Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.
