At the Faculty of Management and Economics, Wasit University and via the electronic medium, I discussed the doctoral thesis in economics for the student (Virgin Bassem Jalab) and the tagged (the impact of economic corruption on some indicators of sustainable human development in Iraq for the period from 2003- 2017).
The thesis addressed the importance of sustainable human development and its great position in the developing and developed countries of the world as well, as all of these countries seek to make improvements and develop health, education, income and other sustainable human development indicators due to the "significant role they play in providing high levels of economic and social well-being.
However, all these countries suffer from a lack of indicators of sustainable human development, except that is the scourge of economic corruption, where this problem is not an internal problem concerning a particular country, but it is a global problem, and Iraq is one of the countries where this problem has spread and spread, and as a result, the country's resources and wealth have been wasted and have become the main obstacle facing the Iraqi government at the moment in the light of the availability of the environment that fosters this The problem is.
The study reached a number of conclusions, the most important of which is that corruption distorted government spending instead of directing public funds to the health and education sectors, which are consumer sectors and not productive sectors, and that the phenomenon of corruption is not limited to a specific party or ministry, but is widespread in all ministries and at all levels and even varies and takes multiple forms.
In her dissertation, the researcher recommended a number of recommendations, including despite the importance of military spending to maintain the security and stability of the country, but the vital sectors must be given priority through the public spending channel in order to push forward development and catch up with developed countries, and eliminate the effects of corruption on sustainable human development indicators or address them and maintain public money from waste through the enactment of strict laws and subject all public sector employees to control and accounting.
