Prof. Dr. Abbas Lafta Al-‘Uqabi, President of Wasit University, accompanied by the University’s Assistant for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Sibeeh Lafta Al-Zubaidi, and the Director of the Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations, Assistant Prof. Dr. Ahmed ‘Aidan Dhammad, along with staff from the department, received the ministerial committee assigned to follow up on the “Study in Iraq” program. The delegation was headed by Dr. Haider Ibrahim Hassoun, and included Asst. Lect. Ali Sattar Jabir, Asst. Lect. Bushra Adel Ali, and Asst. Lect. Sahar Salam Abdullah.

The purpose of the visit was to follow up on the work of the Scholarships Department, review the facilities provided to students enrolled in the program, and identify the main challenges they face—especially with the launch of the program’s third cohort last month and the ongoing student registration process.

The delegation met with a number of international students enrolled in the program and listened to their feedback and suggestions, which contributed to form a comprehensive understanding of their academic and living conditions—both on campus and in the university dormitories.

The committee praised the measures taken by the university to provide a suitable educational and service environment for students within the “Study in Iraq” program and expressed satisfaction with the tangible efforts made to support and ensure the success of this initiative.

For his part, the University President reaffirmed his full commitment to providing support and necessary facilities to ensure the program’s success. He also emphasized the university’s ongoing efforts to provide an academic and living environment that meets the needs of international students and stressed the importance of continuous cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education to overcome any challenges that may arise during their academic journey.
