



Wasit University Promotes Community Awareness of Clean Energy Options in Support of Sustainable Development Goals
As part of its commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Department of Reconstruction and Projects at the Presidency of Wasit University, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center, organized a training course titled “Clean Energy Options and Future Challenges”. The course spanned three days and focused on the importance of transitioning to renewable energy sources.
The course, presented by lecturers Mr. Akram Jalil Kadhem and Mr. Uday Abdul-Hussein Abdul-Imran, aimed to highlight the role of renewable energy in reducing dependence on fossil fuels, lowering greenhouse gas emissions, and utilizing natural resources in a sustainable manner. The initiative aligns with the following SDGs:
Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy
Goal 13: Climate Action
Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production
Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals
Several key topics were addressed during the course, including global warming, environmental crises, declining air and water quality, and future challenges to renewable energy. These included infrastructure, cost, storage, and the need for public education and awareness.
The course concluded with a set of recommendations, most notably: supporting renewable energy research, enhancing international partnerships, improving government policies for sustainable energy, combating climate change, and raising public awareness about the importance of transitioning to clean energy.
