


President of Wasit University Participates in “Baghdad: Capital of Arab Tourism 2025” Conference
Professor Dr. Abbas Lafta Kniher Al-Aqabi, President of Wasit University, participated in the activities of the “Baghdad: Capital of Arab Tourism 2025” conference, held under the patronage of the Prime Minister of Iraq. The event was organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in collaboration with the National Committee for Community Awareness and Guidance at the Prime Minister’s Office and hosted by the University of Baghdad.
Held under the slogan “Baghdad Shines as the Capital of Arab Tourism,” the conference witnessed the presence of Dr. Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani, Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities; Prof. Dr. Adnan Al-Jumaili, Administrative Deputy of the Ministry of Higher Education; along with ambassadors, members of the diplomatic corps, university presidents, and representatives of academic institutions.
In her opening remarks, Dr. Lubna Khamis Mahdi, Chair of the Conference’s Higher Organizing Committee, emphasized that the conference forms part of national efforts to promote Baghdad as the Capital of Arab Tourism. She highlighted the importance of integrating tourism-related concepts into academic curricula and underscored the vital role of universities in showcasing Baghdad’s rich cultural and historical heritage through research initiatives and awareness programs.
