




Wasit University’s College of Law Hosts Awareness Seminar on Political Participation in Elections
The College of Law at Wasit University organized an awareness seminar addressing the theme of political participation in elections and its pivotal role in shaping Iraq’s political system. The event was attended by the college’s faculty and administrative staff.
Supervised by Professor of Political Science Dr. Sattar Shadhan Al-Zuheiri, the seminar aimed to promote engagement in the upcoming parliamentary elections, support the existing political system, and encourage academic and university communities to contribute actively to national reform, development, and long-term stability.
The seminar featured contributions from prominent faculty members, including Prof. Dr. Waleed Kazem Hussein, Prof. Dr. Azhar Sabr Kazem, Asst. Prof. Dr. Hussein Karkan, and Lecturer Adhra’a Kadhim Hanoon. Discussions centered on the critical roles of youth and women in the political process, the importance of peaceful transitions of power, and the right to free expression.
This initiative is part of a broader directive from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Wasit University, encouraging academic institutions to foster electoral awareness and stimulate informed participation in the forthcoming national elections.
