As part of its commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, Wasit University underscored, during its participation in the “Enhancing Community Peace” conference, the significance of its role in supporting Goal 16, which focuses on promoting peace, justice, and the development of strong and inclusive institutions.

In his address at the conference, the President of the University stated that the institution strives to build bridges of academic cooperation with other universities, government entities, and civil society organizations. This effort aims to consolidate the principles of coexistence, reject extremism, sectarianism, and all forms of social discrimination, thereby strengthening the fabric of national cohesion and reflecting the humanitarian values of sustainable development.

He further explained that Wasit University places great importance on fostering a culture of dialogue and acceptance, as well as building a society based on equality and justice. He called for the sustained institutional efforts that support community peace, seeing it as a foundation for achieving comprehensive and sustainable development in Iraq.
