











Wasit University Signs an Administrative, Cultural, and Scientific Memorandum of Understanding with the Wasit Police Command
Wasit University has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Wasit Police Command covering various scientific, cultural, and security fields. The signing ceremony was attended by the Director General of Wasit Education, Dr. Ahmed Shihab Al-Attabi, the Director of Wasit Health, Dr. Jabbar Al-Yasiri, the University’s Assistant for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Sabeih Lafta Al-Zubaidi, and the Assistant for Administrative Affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Shihab Ahmed, in addition to a number of scientific and administrative department heads at the university.
The University President, Prof. Dr. Abbas Lafta Al-Uqabi, stated that Wasit University strives to foster joint cooperation with various governmental and non-governmental institutions and departments within the province, in ways that benefit the Wasit community.
The memorandum, signed by the University President Prof. Dr. Abbas Lafta Al-Uqabi and the Commander of the Wasit Police, Major General Qasim Mohammed Al-Fahd, aims to build bridges of cooperation and open new horizons between the two institutions.
The agreement includes several provisions. In line with the directives of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, it facilitates residency procedures for foreign students studying at Wasit University as part of the “Study in Iraq” initiative. The university also commits to training police personnel through specialized courses to enhance their capabilities. Furthermore, the cooperation will extend to forensic science and the sharing of mutual expertise to the benefit of both institutions.
