Wasit University Organizes Educational Visit to Promote Sustainable Development Goals in Education
As part of its commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 focused on quality education and the promotion of students’ psychological and social well-being, the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Division at Wasit University, in collaboration with the Counseling Unit at the College of Arts, organized a scientific visit to Al-Orchid Secondary School for Girls. The visit aimed to strengthen educational ties and foster community partnership between higher education institutions and secondary schools.
The visit featured a comprehensive awareness program presented by Dr. Nada Nidal Najm, Director of the Psychological Counseling Department at the university, titled “I Can”. The session aimed to empower students by helping them understand their identities, set future goals, and make sound decisions to improve their academic performance and personal growth—encouraging their active contribution to society.
Dr. Marwa Abdullah Shafit, head of the Counseling Unit at the College of Arts, along with her team and liaison members, delivered a lecture addressing psychological and social challenges faced by students. The session included interactive and self-development activities such as “Express Yourself,” “A Message to You,” “Behaviors to Embrace and Leave Behind,” and a lighthearted yet meaningful segment titled “Advice with a Sweet.”
Additionally, Dr. Juhaina Hamed offered a creative educational presentation that used art as a training and learning tool, demonstrating modern counseling approaches through artistic expression.
The administration of Al-Orchid Secondary School expressed deep gratitude for this impactful collaboration, affirming that such initiatives pave the way for new partnerships between institutions and contribute to building a sustainable knowledge-based society that supports students’ educational and personal journeys.
