Message from the Dean

Wasit University aims to distinguish itself in academic performance at both the local and international levels by providing high-quality higher education across various specializations. The University seeks to serve the community by graduating academically and scientifically qualified students who meet the needs of the local labor market, thereby contributing to the progress and prosperity of the governorate and the country.

In line with its vision of global developments—particularly in Iraq, which requires qualified human resources for construction and advancement across all fields that elevate the nation and its citizens—the University has been keen to play a pioneering role in driving positive change.

In the field of arts, and after carefully studying the reality of Wasit Governorate, the University recognized its responsibility to contribute to the cultural, scientific, and artistic development of society. From the perspective that art is the soul of nations and that civilization emerges from art—and given the community’s readiness to embrace innovation, especially in the arts, as demonstrated by the large number of graduates in this discipline as well as the well-known influence of its pioneers—the University assumed its scientific and ethical responsibility and established the College of Fine Arts at Wasit University in 2012.

The College grants a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and consists of:

• Department of Art Education

• Department of Plastic Arts

• Department of Literature and Theatrical Criticism

It is worth noting that this College is among the institutions with direct admission.
