Wasit University College of Agriculture Explores Joint Collaboration with Basra University College of Agriculture to Promote Applied Research and Sustainable Development
In line with enhancing academic and scientific cooperation and exchanging expertise to advance educational and research processes while supporting the agricultural sector, the College of Agriculture at Wasit University explored avenues for joint collaboration with the College of Agriculture at Basra University.
The initiative took place during an official visit led by the Dean of Wasit University College of Agriculture, Asst. Prof. Dr. Hakeem Sultan Abd Al-Rekabi, accompanied by the Assistant for Scientific Affairs, Asst Prof. Dr. Wissam Thamer Al-Miyahi, and in the presence of the President of Basra University, Prof. Dr. Muhannad Hilal. A broad meeting was held with the Deanship of Basra University College of Agriculture to discuss cooperation strategies.
The meeting focused on enhancing joint collaboration in key areas, including:
Scientific research and applied agricultural projects.
Organizing joint seminars and scientific conferences.
Exchanging practical and academic expertise among faculty members and researchers, positively impacting curriculum development and supporting applied research.
The visit also included reviewing several agricultural projects implemented at Basra University College of Agriculture and examining the operational mechanisms and modern technologies applied, contributing to leveraging research outcomes for local community service and supporting sustainable agricultural development.
Both parties emphasized the importance of ongoing coordination and communication and the development of future cooperation agreements to advance academic and research standards, strengthen the role of Iraqi universities in supporting the agricultural sector, and achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
