Wasit medicine organizes a scientific seminar on the recent spread of monkeypox virus.
The Faculty of Medicine at Wasit University organized a scientific seminar on (the recent spread of monkeypox virus), with the participation of the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Assistant Professor Dr. Naseer al-Maliki, and the assistant dean of administrative affairs Dr. Saleh Salman Al-Jabri and a number of faculty and members of the college.
The seminar, presented by Dr. Saad al-Badri, consultant internal pathologist, and Dr. Hussein al-Bayati, professor of viruses at the College, aimed to raise awareness and health and preventive education to reduce the spread of viruses among the community, as well as to reduce the volume of inaccurate and random information about the disease.
The seminar included two axes, the first of which defined the disease and the biological characteristics of virus and methods of transmission, classification, epidemic and diagnosis, the second referred to the statement of the most important clinical signs and medical complications in addition to the steps of treatment and prevention of the disease.
The seminar came up with several recommendations, the most important of which is the provision of diagnostic materials necessary for laboratory work, especially pcr technology, precautionary measures to create the requirements of contracting with sober companies producing vaccines in the event of suspected cases, the need to tighten health procedures on arrivals from the countries of the epidemic or where the medical conditions have appeared late, the need to follow the preventive health methods necessary to reduce the spread of these diseases, including avoiding contact with infected animals and the use of disinfectant and sterile substances always, as well as the use of muzzles in the event of the emergence of cases of infection A suspect.
