






President of Wasit University Meets Faculty and Staff of the College of Veterinary Medicine in Support of Sustainable Development Goals and University Governance
In alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals—particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions)—the President of Wasit University, Professor Dr. Abbas Lafta Al-Aqabi, accompanied by the Vice President for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Sabeih Lafta Al-Zubaidi, and the Vice President for Administrative Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Shihab Ahmed, met with the faculty and staff of the College of Veterinary Medicine during an inspection visit to the college.
The meeting began with a welcoming speech by the Dean of the College, who expressed appreciation for the initiative, highlighting its role in fostering transparency, effective communication, and constructive dialogue between university leadership and academic and administrative staff, thereby reinforcing participatory decision-making.
During the meeting, the University President emphasized the importance of improving academic and administrative performance in line with quality standards and accreditation requirements, contributing to the advancement of higher education outcomes and meeting labor market needs. He praised the vital role of the College of Veterinary Medicine in serving the local community and supporting economic development by preparing specialized and qualified graduates.
The gathering included an open and constructive discussion where faculty and staff shared key challenges facing their work. There was consensus on the need for joint efforts to overcome obstacles and create a stimulating academic environment that fosters innovation, supports scientific research, and contributes to enhancing the university’s ranking at both national and international levels.
