Adab Wasit holds a seminar on "The phenomenon of begging in Wasit Governorate"
The Faculty of Arts at Wasit University, in cooperation with the Directorate of Community Police in the province, organized an in-person scientific symposium on the role of community police in combating the phenomenon of begging in Wasit Governorate, in which the Directorate of Community Police in Wasit Governorate lectured Colonel Ammar Ajam Al-Badri, Dr. Basem Abbas Kazem and social researcher Muhammad Ibrahim Ali Al-Maksousi.
The seminar, which was attended by the President of Wasit University, Prof. Dr. Mazen Al-Hasani, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Dr. Fida Al-Mawla, and a large number of those interested in this matter from outside and inside the university, touched on two axes, the first to introduce the phenomenon of begging, indicate its types and know its causes, and the second was about the criminal treatment in Iraqi laws for this phenomenon.
The seminar came out with recommendations, including: calling on the Iraqi legislator to reconsider the legal articles that dealt with this phenomenon, and to tighten the penalty in it, in addition to calling on the concerned authorities to intensify awareness campaigns about the negativity of this phenomenon in society and work to activate the social solidarity system to reduce the number of beggars, and other solutions to address this phenomenon.
