



Wasit University Develops a Plan to Implement QS Sustainability Ranking Requirements
The committee formed to oversee the requirements of the QS Sustainability Ranking held a significant meeting, chaired by the President of the University, Professor Dr. Abbas Lafta Kniher Al-Oqabi, to discuss and develop a strategic plan aimed at achieving global sustainability ranking standards.
The meeting focused on identifying the key requirements necessary for inclusion in the ranking, as well as discussing implementation mechanisms and action plans to achieve the desired objectives. Additionally, the committee reviewed the main criteria adopted by the QS Sustainability Ranking, which encompass environmental factors, social responsibility, and sustainable governance.
During the meeting, the University President emphasized the importance of adhering to sustainability principles and developing policies that enhance the university’s environmental and social performance. He highlighted the role of these initiatives in improving the university’s ranking both locally and globally. Furthermore, he stressed the necessity of collaboration among all colleges and research centers to ensure the successful achievement of these goals through a well-structured plan with clear implementation phases.
This meeting is part of Wasit university’s ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of higher education and scientific research while strengthening its role in achieving sustainable development in accordance with international standards.
