Under the auspices and presence of the President of the University, Professor Mazen Hassan al-Hasani, the Faculty of Law of Wasit University held a seminar on "Empowering Women" in cooperation with the Humanitarian Organization of Mayat al-Huda and the participation of deanship and teaching the faculty, staff and students. The seminar aims to clarify Iraqi legislation and the role of civil society organizations in empowering women. The seminar included a discussion of three topics, which explained in the first axis the head of the special branch Assistant Professor Dr. (Sahra Hussein) legislative protection of women under positive laws and Islamic law by referring to the laws and constitutional articles in force in this regard, and addressed in the second axis the president of the organization Mayat al-Huda al-Hussain (Huda Husseini) on the role of civil society organizations in empowering women in the political and social fields. The third axis, in which teaching in the special branch (Sunshine Hassan Atheeb) dealt with the basic pillars of women's rights in the Iraqi constitution. The seminar recommended the need to activate the role of clerics and the media in empowering women, to open institutes to develop women's staff in all fields, and to activate the role of civil society organizations through seminars and workshops in this field.
