The Faculty of Basic Education holds a panel discussion on (analysis of the relationship of runoff with rain to the valleys of the eastern parts of Wasit province)
The Department of Geography at wasit University's Faculty of Basic Education held a panel discussion entitled "Analysis of the relationship of runoff with rain to the valleys of the eastern parts of Wasit province", the aim of the seminar presented by Dr. Ali Hamid Dahsh to learn how the characteristics of runoff calculated in the method of soil conservation service (scs-cn) in the study area affect four varieties of hydrological soil and three of the ground cover and the rate of regression as well as the capacity of the basin and these factors affected the values of calculated runoff. The episode showed a variation in the area of the basins at the level of sub-basins for each basin, which reflected on the size of the runoff that is related to the area of the basin, while the main basins came the basin of the Valley of Kalal Badra at the highest area (3685) km2 and the size of runoff reached (4601362) m3, which is the highest volume of runoff While the Wadi Tsir basin came in an area of (3084.9) km2 and the size of a run-off reached (4005513)M3, the Basin of Wadi Al-Jabab reached an area of (1409.4) km2 and the first volume of runoff reached (3846739)m3. The study found that the volume of runoff does not depend mainly on the amount of rain showers but on the type of ground cover and the characteristics of the basin soils that affect the curve number as its value increases, the higher the value of runoff. The workshop came up with proposals from it, since the volume of water runoff is very large it is necessary to invest water coming from the eastern parts of Wasit province and store it, which helps to invest large areas of agricultural land, as well as to take care of these areas and turn them into tourist resorts, which have great ingredients to create them and put submersible dams in these valleys to raise the level of groundwater and benefit from them at different times.
