A Doctoral thesis on Genetic Analysis and Detection of CMV, HBV and HCV in donor blood was discussed at the Faculty of Science using PCR technology

The thesis presented by student Zainab Zia Al Khatib aims to increase the safety of blood given to patients by evaluating the addition of new tests to detect HBV, HCV and CMV blood donor infections at the Blood Bank in Wasit province, comparing the results obtained from records originally installed in the blood bank and reviewing methods of evaluating the safety of blood transfusion.

The detection rate of cytomegalovirus in the blood sample donated to the POLYMERIC CHAIN REACTION test was 33.3%), and there is no correlation between EBV and CMV, age, address and gender of donors.

The gB and gN genes of the discovered CMV showed no substantial differences compared to the reference sequence.
