•         قبول شفاف ونزيه للطلبة قائم على العدالة والمساواة والشفافية والتنوع وتكافؤ الفرص.

•         تقديم خريجين قادرين على ممارسة تخصصهم وخدمة المجتمع سواء في المدارس الحكومية أو الخاصة وتطوير أدائهم والتنافس مع بقية الخريجين من مختلف المؤسسات داخل العراق وخارجه في علوم اللغة الانكليزية وآدابها وبما يتلاءم والتطور الحاصل في مجالات اللغة وتعليمها.

•         السعي لجعل القسم متميز وريادي في التعليم والبحث العلمي في مجالي اللغة الانكليزية وآدابها محليا واقليميا وترسيخ التفاعل مع ثقافات العالم المتحدث باللغة الانكليزية وزيادة نتاجه العلمي من خلال فتح تخصصات جديدة في الدراسات العليا تواكب حاجة المجتمع المتزايدة

تعليم ذو كفاءة عالية يعمل على تعزيز وتطوير مهارات الطلبة ومعارفهم اللغوية والبحثية والتعليمية وتنمية أفكارهم وإعدادهم إعدادا جيدا لتحمل مسؤولياتهم في العمل ومواصلة دراساتهم العليا في نفس المجال أو في مجالات أخرى. والعمل على تمكينهم من التعامل والتفاعل المثمر والبناء مع باقي الثقافات العالمية بغض النظر عن القومية والعرق والدين، والمعتقد، والعمر، والجنسية .

أهداف القسم

إن الأهداف العامة التي يسعى قسم اللغة الانكليزية في كلية التربية الانسانية إلى تحقيقها عن طريق برامجه هي:

1.      إعداد جيل من المدرسين للتعليم الثانوي لهم القدرة على تدريس اللغة الانكليزية في تلك الحلقات التعليمية.

2.      تزويد الطلبة بحصيلة علمية في مهارات اللغة الإنكليزية تؤهلهم لمواجهة تحديات الحياة المعاصرة وذلك عن طريق الإلمام بمبادئ التفكير المنهجي المنظم ودراسة مواد متنوعة في اللغة والنحو والأدب وتدريبهم على النقد النظري والتطبيقي واكتساب مبادئ الترجمة

3.      تمكين الطلبة من مراجعة ما اكتسبوه من مهارات لغوية في المراحل الدراسية السابقة، وتعميقها، وترسيخها، وتطويرها.

4.      تأهيل الطلبة تأهيلا عالياً للاستمرار في برامج الدراسات العليا من أجل رفد كليات التربية والكليات الأخرى داخل جامعة واسط وخارجها بالتدريسيين المؤهلين لتدريس مادة اللغة الانكليزية في الدراستين الأولية والعليا.

5.      جعل البيئة اكاديمية قائمة على النزاهة والشفافية وملتزمة بالأخلاق الاكاديمية المهنية لضمان تعزيز مبدأ تكافؤ الفرص والعدالة وحصول الطلبة على التقييم العادل وفقاً لمستوياتهم الأكاديمية والتعامل بصرامة وحزم مع حالات الابتزاز والتحرش والرشوة

6.      اشاعة روح التسامح والسلام وقبول الاخر بعيدا عن النزعات القومية والعرقية والدينية وضمان المساواة في الحقوق والواجبات بغض النظر عن النوع الاجتماعي للفرد.

7.      تطوير البنية التحتية للقسم لمواكبة التطور في البرامج العلمية في القسم مع الالتزام بمبادئ التنمية المستدامة وترشيد استهلاك الماء والكهرباء والاعتماد على الطاقة البديلة.

Department Vision

·   Transparent and fair admission of students based on justice, equality,

          transparency, diversity, and equal opportunities.

·   Graduating students capable of practicing their profession and serving the community in both public and private schools, enhancing their performance, and competing, with graduates from various institutions within rag and abroad in the fields of English language and literature, in line with developments in language sciences and teaching methodologies.

·   Striving to make the department a distinguished leader in education and scientific research in English language and literature at the local and regional levels, strengthening interaction with English-speaking cultures, and increasing scientific output through the introduction of new postgraduate programs that meet the growing needs of society.

Department Mission

Providing high-quality education aimed at enhancing and developing students' linguistic, research, and educational skills and knowledge, fostering their critical thinking, and preparing them to assume professional responsibilities and pursue higher studies in the same or related fields. The department also seeks to empower students to engage productively and constructively with diverse global cultures, irrespective of nationality, ethnicity, religion, belief, age, or citizenship.

Department Objectives

The general objectives that the English Department in the College of Humanities seeks to achieve through its programs are as follows:

1. Preparing a generation of secondary school teachers capable of teaching English at various educational stages.

2. Equipping students with scientific knowledge and skills in the English language that enable them to meet contemporary life challenges, through systematic, organized thinking and the study of diverse subjects in language, grammar, and literature, as well as training in theoretical and applied criticism and acquiring principles of translation.

3. Enabling students to review, deepen, consolidate, and develop their previously acquired language skills.

4. Providing high-level training to qualify students for postgraduate programs, thereby supplying colleges of education and other faculties within and outside Wasit University with qualified English language instructors for undergraduate and graduate levels.

5. Creating an academic environment grounded in integrity, transparency, and professional academic ethics to ensure the promotion of equal opportunity, justice, and fair evaluation based on academic performance, while firmly addressing cases of blackmail, harassment, and bribery.

6. Promoting a spirit of tolerance, peace, and acceptance of others, free from ethnic, racial, or religious biases, and ensuring equality in rights and duties regardless of individual gender identity.

7. Developing the department's infrastructure to keep pace with advancements in scientific programs, while adhering to the principles of sustainable development, rationalizing water and electricity consumption, and relying on alternative energy
