A word from the Head of the Formation:
A word from the Head of the Women's Affairs Division:
The concept of women's affairs has become familiar after being something unspoken. Society now readily accepts women as equal partners in all fields, working, thinking, and creating. This is the natural order with which God Almighty created humanity. Woman is the other half of man, and when God created Eve, Adam was completed by her, at which point God Almighty commanded the angels to prostrate before him.
Inspired by nature, religion, and civilization, the Women's Affairs project was launched, becoming a priority among projects worldwide. Our beloved country has had a significant share in women's affairs, as the Ministry established the Women's Affairs Department, which opened branches in all the country's universities.
Our division was distinguished and pioneering in its various activities, which had a significant impact on achieving harmony and acceptance within a conscious and civilized society, ultimately leading to the realization of desired goals. This made "Women's Affairs" a lived and sound reality, contributing to the creation of a shared environment where men and women work together to build a better and brighter future.
Administrative Structure:
Based on the principle of directing efforts and highlighting the achievement of gender equality in educational institutions, and in accordance with the fifth goal of the United Nations Development Programme - (Gender Equality), Women's Affairs Divisions were established in all Iraqi universities. These divisions are technically linked to the Women's Affairs Department in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, which in turn is linked to the National Directorate for Iraqi Women in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers. Administratively, the division is linked to the office of the university president within the ministry's structure and its affiliated departments. This is all part of a unified vision to enhance the role of women in administration and leadership, to stand against all forms of discrimination, and to formulate public policies that guarantee equal opportunities for both genders at all levels, starting with ensuring equal admission opportunities in all types of academic programs. This includes all disciplines, ensuring equal responsibilities for both genders as faculty members, and ultimately achieving gender equality in assuming middle and senior administrative and leadership positions.
