The University Press for Printing, Publishing, and Translation will soon publish a scholarly book authored by Professor Dr. Ali Moula, Dean of the College, entitled The Sweetness of the Image: Beauty and Signification in the Dramaturgy of the Image. The volume represents a distinguished academic contribution to the field of cinematic and television semiotics, particularly in the study of the aesthetics of visual signification.

The book explores the aesthetics of the cinematic image and the mechanisms through which meaning is generated within dramatic discourse. It is organized into four principal chapters.

The first chapter, “When the Hero Becomes a Sign and Meaning Takes Human Form,” examines the concept of the actant within structuralist-formalist theory, focusing on the protagonist's structural configuration and semantic functions.

The second chapter, “The Journey of Meaning through the Textuality of Dramatic Space,” investigates dramatic space as both a semiotic sign and a field of meaning, highlighting its relationship to social context and visual representation.

The third chapter, “The Shot: The Camera’s Descent into the Depths of the Dramatic Character,” analyzes psychological identity, character construction, and the camera's role in generating dramatic meaning.

The fourth chapter, “Temporal Dimensions of Traits in the Arena of the Tragedy of the Cinematic Image,” discusses the Aristotelian conception of the tragic hero and examines the interplay between traditional and contemporary paradigms within modern cinematic discourse.

Through its integration of theoretical analysis and practical applications based on selected case studies, this scholarly work reflects rigorous academic research and constitutes a valuable addition to the specialized Arabic library. It is expected to serve as an important reference for researchers, scholars of cinema and visual criticism, and professionals engaged in translating written texts into vivid and aesthetically compelling visual narratives.
