Wasit University Prepares to Launch Entrepreneurship Week to Foster Innovation and Empower Youth

Wasit University held a strategic meeting chaired by the University President, Prof. Dr. Abbas Lafta Al-Aqabi, with the participation of the Assistant for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Sabeeh Lafta, Head of the Quality Assurance Department, Asst. Prof. Dr. Luma Abdul Munaf, Head of the Science and Technology Gardens Department, Dr. Noor Mohammed Al-Kilabi, and representatives from the university’s colleges. The meeting was held in preparation for the launch of Entrepreneurship Week, as part of the university’s strategy to build a comprehensive entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The University President emphasized that Wasit University is committed to fostering an entrepreneurship culture as a strategic pathway to empower youth, transform their creative ideas into productive projects, contribute to community development and the national economy, and strengthen the university’s role as an active partner in development and future-building.

The meeting discussed a holistic vision for entrepreneurship, ensuring that it is accessible to all students across disciplines, supporting initiatives that provide innovative solutions to societal challenges, and enhancing the university’s role as a leading institution that offers insights to policymakers for the formulation of national entrepreneurial policies.

This initiative aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including:

SDG 4: Quality Education, by equipping students with entrepreneurial knowledge and skills.

SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, through support for innovative projects that create sustainable employment opportunities.

SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, by promoting technological and scientific innovation and entrepreneurship.

SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, by empowering youth to contribute to sustainable solutions for societal challenges.
