With prior coordination, the Student Smile Makers Team at the College of Dentistry, University of Wasit, accompanied by members of the teaching staff, conducted an inspection visit to the Elderly Care Home in Al-Kut City. The visit was part of a community service activity aimed at assessing the health conditions and public services provided to the residents of the home.
This visit was carried out as part of a series of volunteer activities organized by the team throughout the academic year, which contribute to strengthening social bonds and community solidarity between healthcare professionals and the various segments of society, especially those most in need of care and support.
The team's official sponsor, Dr. Wissam Thamer Al-Miyahi, emphasized the importance of such humanitarian initiatives, noting that the College of Dentistry has always been at the forefront of community-oriented activities and volunteer work that serve society and promote humanitarian values.
In the same context, Dr. Sattar Al-Waeli stated that these initiatives help build a society based on love, compassion, and mutual respect, free from hatred, resentment, and anger. He added that visiting elderly care homes is considered one of the noble virtues encouraged in Islam and one of the finest acts of kindness and charity, given its positive impact on the well-being of older adults and the sense of care and appreciation it provides them.
