The Department of Geography at the College of Education for Humanities, Wasit University, launched an awareness campaign on water conservation titled “Every Drop Counts.”
The campaign, which involved faculty members, staff, and students, aimed to emphasize the importance of preserving water resources as a vital element of human life. It called for reducing the overuse of this essential resource, avoiding waste, and protecting it from pollution to ensure the well-being of both current and future generations. In light of Iraq’s ongoing water scarcity and the drying of the Tigris River, the campaign stressed that every citizen bears a responsibility to safeguard and sustain this critical resource.
As part of the initiative, informational brochures were distributed to raise awareness about best practices for efficient water use in households, farms, and various institutions.
The campaign recommended the continued adoption of water-saving tools across all sectors, the integration of the concept of smart water use into educational curricula and media programs, and the promotion of community awareness regarding the importance of preserving water resources.
