Wasit University Launches a Digital Economy Department at the College of Administration and Economics

Wasit University has announced the establishment of a new Digital Economy Department at the College of Administration and Economics, starting from the academic year 2025–2026, after obtaining official approval from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

The Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Ahmed Al-Waeli, stated that the launch of this department marks an important step in enhancing the university’s academic and research standing. It aligns with global trends in digital economy and aims to prepare specialized graduates capable of leading digital transformation projects in government institutions and the private sector.

He added that the department will focus on equipping students with modern digital skills, while also offering evening programs and specialized workshops designed to develop and upskill government employees. This will contribute to institutional performance improvement, advance scientific research, and address the evolving needs of society.

The establishment of the Digital Economy Department represents a qualitative addition to Wasit University’s mission of fostering innovation, supporting sustainable development, and supplying the labor market with highly qualified professionals.
