Wasit University organized a specialized scientific seminar entitled “Financial Planning and Its Role in Achieving the Requirements of Institutional Accreditation in Universities,” as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance the principles of good governance and to link financial planning with quality standards and institutional accreditation.

The seminar was delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Luma Abdul-Manaf, Director of the Department of Quality Assurance and University Performance, who addressed key themes of strategic financial planning, mechanisms for the efficient and effective utilization of financial resources, and the role of financial planning in supporting the achievement of institutional accreditation indicators and standards, in line with the requirements of continuous improvement in university performance.

The seminar was attended by the President of Wasit University, Prof. Dr. Abbas Al-Aqabbi, the Vice President for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Sabeeh Laftah, in addition to senior university leadership represented by the deans, mid-level leadership represented by the assistant deans for administrative and financial affairs, heads of quality assurance units, heads of financial divisions in the university’s colleges, as well as members of the Institutional Accreditation Standards Team.

The seminar emphasized the importance of integration between financial planning and academic and administrative planning, and the necessity of adopting clear and transparent financial methodologies that contribute to achieving institutional sustainability and enhancing performance efficiency. This approach supports the university’s orientation toward obtaining institutional accreditation and consolidating a culture of quality across all its organizational structures.
