The College of Dentistry Organizes a Specialized Scientific Seminar on "Digital Extremism: From Behind the Screens to the Streets – Causes and Challenges of Countermeasures"

Under the patronage of the President of Wasit University, Professor Dr. Abbas Lafta Al-Aqabi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Assistant Professor Dr. Hani Mohsen Khulaif, the University Psychological Counseling Unit at the College of Dentistry organized a specialized scientific seminar on the occasion of the International Day Against Violent Extremism, entitled:

"Digital Extremism: From Behind the Screens to the Streets – Causes and Challenges of Countermeasures."

The seminar was held as part of the unit's programs aimed at promoting students' intellectual and digital awareness and addressing the negative consequences of the misuse of cyberspace.

The seminar was delivered by:

  • Assistant Lecturer Iqbal Sukban Dhabbah
  • Assistant Lecturer Dhabyan Rahim Mujthab

The seminar addressed the concept of digital extremism as one of the most serious contemporary challenges facing societies, particularly young people. It highlighted the psychological, social, and cultural factors contributing to this phenomenon, as well as the role of social media and digital platforms in spreading extremist ideologies and recruiting individuals.

The speakers also discussed the negative impact of digital extremism on students' psychological well-being and intellectual stability, emphasizing the importance of strengthening digital awareness, promoting critical thinking, and encouraging the responsible and safe use of online platforms.

The seminar witnessed positive engagement from the participants, who praised its scientific content and emphasized its importance in raising awareness of the risks of digital extremism and the ways to prevent it.
