The Central Committee of the Erasmus Program at Wasit University held its regular meeting to discuss upcoming international projects and initiatives planned for implementation within the university. The discussions aligned with the university’s strategic vision for global engagement and its efforts to enhance its standing in internationally recognized university rankings.

The meeting was attended by the Dean of the College of Medicine, Prof. Nassir Al-Maliki, the Director of Scholarships and Cultural Relations, Dr. Ali Fayadh, and the Erasmus Unit Coordinator, Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Jabbar Al-Maliki, along with a group of faculty members involved in international cooperation.

The committee reviewed mechanisms for expanding international academic partnerships, increasing opportunities for faculty and student exchanges with reputable European universities, and advancing institutional capacity-building projects supported by the Erasmus program. These initiatives directly contribute to improving academic performance and strengthening the university’s educational and research environment.

The attendees emphasized that enhancing the university’s participation in the Erasmus program represents a key step toward supporting its vision for advancing in global rankings—particularly in areas related to internationalization, academic mobility, and institutional development projects, which form essential pillars in global university evaluation criteria.

This meeting comes as part of Wasit University’s ongoing efforts to reinforce its international presence and expand collaboration programs that benefit its students and faculty while keeping pace with modern trends in higher education.
