University Strategic Studies Center Organizes a Discussion Forum for Students with Disabilities in Cooperation with the College of Law

. The forum was attended by the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Abbas Lafta Al-Aqabi, his assistants Prof. Dr. Sabeeh Lafta Farhan and Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Shehab Ahmed, the Head of the Strategic Studies Center, Lect. Dr. Mohammed Abbas Zanjjar, in addition to the Dean and faculty members of the College of Law.

This forum comes as part of the University’s commitment to promoting educational equity and equal opportunities, and to strengthening an inclusive university environment that ensures the effective participation of all students in the educational process, in line with sustainable development orientations that emphasize inclusive and quality education and the empowerment of students with special needs.

Held under the theme “From Experience to Decision: Students with Disabilities as Partners in Improving Reality,” the forum aimed to identify the main challenges and needs faced by students with disabilities within the university environment, and to discuss practical solutions to address them. The discussions focused on enhancing the quality of educational and administrative services and supporting students’ academic continuity and excellence.

Moderated by Dr. Rashad Amer Hassoun, the forum featured a direct dialogue between the University President and the students, during which participants presented their administrative, legal, and social concerns. The discussion emphasized the importance of breaking psychological barriers, minimizing the impact of challenges on academic achievement, and providing a supportive learning environment that fosters academic excellence and positive engagement in university life.

During the forum, the University Presidency reaffirmed the University of Wasit’s commitment to adopting inclusive policies and initiatives and to utilizing the outcomes of student dialogues in the development of institutional decisions, reflecting the University’s role in community service and the achievement of sustainable development goals.
