The Industrial Advisory Council of the College of Dentistry at Wasit University held its second meeting on Thursday, 9 July 2026, under the chairmanship of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Hani Mohsen Khulaif.

The meeting was attended by the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Sajjad Mohsen; the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, Dr. Kadhim Karim Aboud; the Head of the Department of Evaluation, Pediatric Dentistry, and Preventive Dentistry, Assistant Professor Dr. Hanan Fadhil; Dr. Hussein Al-Naqeeb, representative of the Iraqi Dental Association – Wasit Branch; and Dr. Ammar Ibrahim, representative of the Wasit Health Directorate.

The council discussed mechanisms to enhance and further develop the professional competencies of dentistry graduates in Wasit Governorate to better meet the needs of the community. The participants also reviewed proposals for organizing professional development programs for dentists in cooperation with the Wasit Health Directorate and the Iraqi Dental Association.

In addition, the meeting emphasized the importance of implementing community outreach and field awareness programs to promote oral hygiene, encourage proper dental care practices, and raise awareness of the importance of early detection of oral and dental diseases.

Furthermore, the council discussed the growing number of dentistry graduates and stressed the need to achieve a realistic balance between the outputs of dental education and the workforce demands of public healthcare institutions and private dental clinics in Wasit Governorate, thereby contributing to the sustainable development of the healthcare sector and improving the quality of dental services.
