Wasit
University Wins First Place in the Grand National Competition “A Nation Reads”
through its Student Yasser Ammar
In
a scientific and cultural achievement that adds to the continuous successes of
Wasit University, and in the presence of the representative of the University
President, Assistant Professor Dr. Hakeem Sultan Al-Rukabi, Dean of the College
of Agriculture, student Yasser Ammar Yasser from the College of Medicine
secured first place at the national level in the Grand National Competition “A
Nation Reads” (Second Season, 2025). The competition was held under the
auspices of the General Secretariat of the Holy Shrine of Imam Al-Hussein and
with the direct support of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific
Research.
The
University President, Professor Dr. Abbas Lafta Al-Aqabi, praised this
accomplishment, emphasizing that it reflects the dedication and commitment of
the university toward its students. He affirmed that the university continues
to support young talents, foster intellectual and scientific activities, and
enhance its presence in national and regional arenas.
Dr.
Al-Aqabi further stated that the competition, considered one of the most
prominent national cultural events, underscores the importance of reading and
knowledge in shaping the awareness of university youth and broadening their
intellectual horizons
Student
Yasser excelled in the competition with outstanding performance, demonstrating
the high academic and cultural preparation that Wasit University provides for
its students, making him a true ambassador of the institution in this major
national event.
It
is noteworthy that Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Kadhim Hussein represented the
university on the selection committee of the competition. The competition’s
tests covered a wide range of topics including: Qur’anic exegesis, Islamic
thought, ethics, Arabic literature, management and economics, human
development, philosophy and logic, sciences, social studies, and artificial
intelligence. Such diversity required exceptional effort and encyclopedic
knowledge from the participants.
This victory once again confirms that Wasit University has become a platform for excellence and creativity, and a vital contributor to the academic and cultural landscape, preparing a generation of youth capable of carrying the message of knowledge and serving society.
