Under the patronage and presence of the President of Wasit University, Prof. Dr. Abbas Lafta Kniher Al-Aqabi, the Scientific Vice President, Prof. Dr. Sabeeh Lafta, the Dean of the College of Medicine, Asst. Prof. Dr. Nasser Kadhem Al-Maliki, alongside vice deans, several college deans, and faculty members, the College of Medicine organized a scientific symposium as part of its academic activities.
The symposium, titled “The Stuporous State and Inner Calm before Suicide: A Psychodynamic Approach with Clinical Reflections”, shed light on one of the sensitive psychological issues increasingly drawing the attention of both the medical and academic communities. The event witnessed the participation of faculty members, students, and interested attendees.
The keynote lecture was delivered by Consultant Dr. Mahdi Abdulkarim, who presented a comprehensive scientific overview addressing the dimensions of the stuporous state and its psychological and clinical indicators, while offering an analytical perspective on the pre-suicidal stage. His insights aimed to enrich scientific understanding and contribute to establishing solid frameworks for addressing such complex phenomena.
