The President of Wasit University, Professor Dr. Abbas Lafta Al-Aqabi, signed several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with four distinguished Russian universities: the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN University), Perm State National Research University, Don State Technical University, and Belgorod State University.

The agreements were formalized during Professor Al-Aqabi’s participation in the Global General Assembly held in Moscow, with the presence of Professor Dr. Nadhir Al-Obaidi, the Cultural Attaché of the Iraqi Embassy in Russia.

Professor Al-Aqabi emphasized that these MoUs will soon enter into force, underscoring their importance in strengthening academic and scientific collaboration between Iraq and the Russian Federation. He further highlighted the support provided by the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, under the leadership of His Excellency Professor Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, noting that such initiatives play a vital role in expanding the scope of international cooperation.

He also expressed appreciation to the Iraqi Cultural Mission in Russia for its invitation to participate in this significant event, stressing that these partnerships will not only foster scientific and cultural exchange but will also contribute to enhancing the global visibility and international rankings of Wasit University. Moreover, he noted that such engagements help reinforce human values and empower youth to play an active role in promoting positive societal values in the face of global intellectual and ethical challenges.
