Prof. Dr. Abbas Lafta Al-Aqabi, President of Wasit University, together with Prof. Dr. Sabeih Lafta Al-Zubaidi, Vice President for Scientific Affairs, took part in the Conference on Editing Iraqi Scientific Journals, organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The event brought together university presidents, editors-in-chief, managing editors, and editorial board members of Iraqi journals.

Held under the theme “Advancing Scientific Journals toward Excellence,” the conference focused on strategies to enhance the quality of Iraqi scientific journals and to align their publishing standards with international accreditation requirements. Discussions also addressed pathways for indexing Iraqi journals in reputable global databases.

The University President affirmed that Wasit University places strong emphasis on developing its scientific journals and strengthening their presence in international rankings. He highlighted the importance of supporting researchers and encouraging high-quality scholarly publishing as a cornerstone for advancing scientific research in Iraq.
